I’ve always wanted to be a magazine centerfold, fodder for the tabloids, or a great read for your time in line at the grocery store. And this is as close as I may ever get:
Thank you to Better Homes and Gardens editor James Baggett, my longtime friend and garden “personality”/writer Shirley Remes, writer and editor Beth Botts, and photographer Bob Stefko for making our farm in Richmond, Illinois seem like the most romantic old farm EVER!
Please find and buy a copy–and then ask me to autograph it so that I can get the full experience of bein’ a glamour girl. A STAR IS BORN! A STAR IS BORN! Move over Meryl and Julia and Sandra and Angelina and all you glamour has-been’s: Rommy has launched! ##
Congrats! Wowza on the yellow peony!!!
And What a Star you ARE!!! Can’t wait to find BHG Magazine—April I presume. Hope those Bees start BUZZING soon around your gardens!!
Love this! I’m off to the grocery store to buy a copy.
Can’t wait to rush out for a copy! They should cover your LF home next!! Congrats. ..well deserved.
Your farm is the best place ever…
What beautiful pictures!
Thanks for the info. I recognize that tablecloth on the table with flower setting! One of your favorites I think. Your gardens are worth splendid review! as well as the peaceful beautiful town of Richmond, Illinois. Congratulations! Martha Drummond
Good for you romi! Looking forward to a well deserved spread!
Congrats
Debra
Awesome! Thank you for sending this news! I had no idea you were launched big time and I can’t wait to see the issue.
Congrats, Rommy. I’ll pick up the magazine as soon as it’s available. Shirley did a piece on my gardens for that magazine several years ago–she does great work. I would iove to see your gardens sometime. Have you ever had any garden walks at either of your places?
Last year we had the McHenry County Master Gardeners come to our farm as part of its tour of gardens. It was great to meet everyone and of course the vegetable garden looked especially good because Country Gardens magazine had “staged” it with some magnificent plants!
Just sat down to read the new Country Garden and did a double take when I saw Weedpatch in the title. I subscribed to the gazette for years and still miss it. However it is evident that your farm has been the benefactor of your time. It is just beautiful – makes me want to go out and buy a farmette! Congratulations!
,
Hey, good catch! So glad you saw the article and recognized the weedpatch. Hope you’ll stick with me now too–blogging is a whole whale of a lot different than print, which I dearly miss, but whaddya gonna do? And don’t go buy a farmette (“the money pit”), just come over to our place and start (wait for it) weeding!
Hi there WeedPatchGazette, when I saw the pictures of your property, the first think that came to mind was Bunny Williams place in Falls Village, Ct. The photos of the chicken coop and the views looking toward the barn were almost exactly like what Bunny and John have at their weekend retreat/hobby farm.
Well, am I flattered or what? Do you think they’d want to trade?
Everyone has An Affair with Their House and Garden; you have yours, I have mine, and Bunny and John have theirs ;-}
Lovely article. I love the fact that “MARTHA STEWART” subscribe to your magazine. Does she read the blog? I was also wondering what the last name was until I read that it was Polish for shovel. I’ll try it out on my Polish husband. Happy gardening!
Hi Rommy,
Glad I found your blog and you will be happy to know that I just ordered Milkweed seeds to add to the flower gardens I take care of in Richmond. I’ll make a sign that says “Butterfly Garden” for those who will ask “What the heck is she doing planting Milkweed?”
-Ginene
Forgot to mention that I ordered the magazine, so I will be asking for your autograph! Exciting!
